Let’s Make Stuff: Finishing a Patina

Writer's picture: Janna CoumoundourosJanna Coumoundouros

Let’s Make Stuff! Follow me- Detroit artist, Janna Coumoundouros from Lilacpop Studio as I describe how I made this mixed metal statement piece. And the best part is adding the patina and then buffing it slightly to get it just right. It’s my favorite part of metalsmithing and finishes the piece just right.

I’m using Jax Iron, Steel, and Nickel Blackener for the brass and Grobet Liver of Sulfur Gel to do the patina. I use a 00 steel wool to lightly buff and then seal it with Renaissance Wax Polish.
